I'm "quarantining" all the plants inside until it's appropriate to plant them.Family owned and operated nursery since 2019. The foliage is often mistaken for a boxwood, although it is darker green in. We have no native worms in Minnesota and are very worried about jumping worms, so finding a worm is concerning. Standing 2-3 foot tall and wide, STRONGBOX creates a nice mounding evergreen shrub. However there was an earthworm, I think a nightcrawler, but I'm going to let it grow a bit more and confirm ID. Trim in late winter and fertilize in early spring for the strongest growth and mulch the shallow roots to conserve moisture. Grow it in acid soil and use a potting mix for acid-loving plants for container growing.
STRONGBOX HOLLY FULL
The soil pot was tapped so the soil didn't come out and the leaves and stem where in bubble wrap. The Strongbox Inkberry Holly can be grown in full sun or light partial shade, and it thrives in moist soils, even including wet ones. It looks very healthy and was very well wrapped. I'm keeping it inside for another month or so. Strongbox and several other plants came quickly and had already started sprouting (too quickly for our planting season, we got 7" of snow yesterday). Great plants if you are willing to wait a few years for growth compared to ordering from Proven Winners. I've used Hirt's begore and will do so again in the future ! They are Proven Winners brand plants, a little smaller then what they sell directly at Proven Winners, but about half the price.
